About the M20 x 2.0 thread
M20 x 2.0 is a metric fine thread with a 20.000 mm major diameter and a 2.0 mm pitch, giving a minor diameter of about 17.835 mm. In aluminum, brass and plastics, drill 18.0 mm for about 75% thread engagement. In steel, stainless and cast iron, step up to 18.5 mm for about 50% engagement, which cuts tapping torque and the risk of a broken tap while keeping most of the thread's strip strength. For an M20 screw to pass through, drill 21.0 mm for a close fit or 22.0 mm for a free fit.
