About the M19 x 2.5 thread

M19 x 2.5 is a metric thread with a 19.000 mm major diameter and a 2.5 mm pitch, giving a minor diameter of about 16.294 mm. In aluminum, brass and plastics, drill 16.5 mm for about 75% thread engagement. In steel, stainless and cast iron, step up to 17.5 mm for about 50% engagement, which cuts tapping torque and the risk of a broken tap while keeping most of the thread's strip strength. For an M19 screw to pass through, drill 20.0 mm for a close fit or 21.0 mm for a free fit.
