About the M15 x 1.5 thread
M15 x 1.5 is a metric thread with a 15.000 mm major diameter and a 1.5 mm pitch, giving a minor diameter of about 13.376 mm. In aluminum, brass and plastics, drill 13.5 mm for about 75% thread engagement. In steel, stainless and cast iron, step up to 14.0 mm for about 50% engagement, which cuts tapping torque and the risk of a broken tap while keeping most of the thread's strip strength. For an M15 screw to pass through, drill 15.75 mm for a close fit or 16.5 mm for a free fit.
